5S
Create an Efficient and Organized Workplace with 5S

The purpose of the 5S method is to create an organized, safe, and efficient workplace by reducing waste and improving work processes. Here are the five steps of 5S and their purposes:
- Sort (Seiri): Eliminate unnecessary items from the workplace and supplement what is missing to reduce clutter and create a more efficient work environment.
- Set in Order (Seiton): Organize and label necessary items so that they are easily accessible and always in the right place.
- Clean (Seiso): Keep the workplace clean and free from dirt, acquire the right cleaning equipment, and determine the desired state to improve safety and comfort.
- Standardize (Seiketsu): Create standardized routines to maintain order and cleanliness.
- Sustain (Shitsuke): Establish a culture of discipline and continuous improvement to ensure that the 5S principles are followed long-term by reviewing 5S areas and incorporating 5S into daily agendas within the organization.
The 5S Framework: How to Structure Your Workplace
The implementation is carried out by addressing the company's need for order and organization in a selected 5S area. The purpose of the pilot is to determine the appropriate level, regulations, standardization method, and how 5S should be revised over time. The implementation takes place over six sessions:
- Workshop 1: 5S Management Decides on Pilot and Regulations
- Workshop 2: Training/Practical Application of 5S Sort
- Workshop 3: Training/Practical Application of 5S Set in Order
- Workshop 4: Training/Practical Application of 5S Clean
- Workshop 5: Training/Practical Application of 5S Standardize
- Workshop 6: Training/Practical Application of 5S Sustain
Epical documents the pilot's decisions and successes, and creates training materials/templates/visualizations for more effective dissemination.
The implementation of 5S will be carried out using our developed best practice solution, templates, training, and visual solutions from visuellafabriken.se
